In the shade of olive tree, a great adventure to come! And several events and meetings as the 63th Rallye FIM, a great Feast of the Olive Tree at Moscow, etc., will be organized in order to promote the olive tree as universal symbol and cultural heritage.

A dream, a trip that is full of symbols will shortly become reality! On the occasion of the Beijing 2008 Olympic Games, “The Olive tree Routes” organisation will leave the Mediterranean area to follow the “ Silk Road” tracks, from the Asian depths up to Moscow, in order to pass the “Peace Flame”, that carries universal messages regarding the olive tree and the need of a pacific coexistence as a condition of sustainable development and everyone’s prosperity. At the junction of those two main routes, we will be at the meeting of two civilisations that, since centuries, unit people and religions, and thus assure their long-term stability, generating both prosperity and knowledge, through commercial and cultural exchanges as well as co-operations.

This initiave fits in the frameworks of both the « European Year of the intercultural dialogue » and the « Olive tree » program , routes and cultural events that aim to develop the olive growing areas and the sustainable development of those territories, through the promotion of the « olive trees civilisations » and this precious natural and cultural heritage safeguard. Because business once promoted culture, culture promotes today’s business »…

These special “Olive tree Routes ” are carried out in association with the Council of Europe and the European Institute of Cultural Routes, the Greek Foreign Affairs, Culture and Development Ministries and are under the aegis of the Mediterranean Chamber of Commerce and Industry as well as numerous Greek organisms and institutions.
This long and difficult but fascinating motorcycles journey will symbolically leave from Pylos and the Ancient Messinia (Greece), where some of the oldest accounts about the olive tree heritage have been discovered. The departure will be on the 14th july, as part of the 63rd International Federation of Motocyclism rally that will gather together thousands of motocyclists, coming from more than 44 different countries, around a huge party promoting the olive tree and the Mediterranean area. Excursions, cultural entertainments, concerts, gastronomic tastings… are also planned.
Around fifty motorcyclists will leave right after the closing of the 63rd IFM rally, to cover around 21.000 kms and pass the « Peace Flame » on in 19 countries : Turkey, Georgia, Azerbaijan, Iran, Turkmenistan, Ouzbekistan, Kazakhstan, Kirghizistan, China, Mongolia, Russia, Bielorussia, Ukraine, Moldavia, Romania, Serbia, Bulgaria, FYROM, Greece… Small and big parties will be organized on the occasion of numerous staging points, such as a spectacular event, that will take place in Moscow : « The Great Celebrations of the Mediterranean area and the Olive tree », where in the middle of a huge olive grove of 1000 olive trees originating from various mediterranean countries, to the sound of 1000 violins, 1000 doves will fly away in the sky to take over the passing on of the peace message and give it off all around the world.
